1. Yes, you can get these wheels in the US.
2. They are now 8.5 x 19 front and 9.5 x 19 rear.
3. Here is the parts listing.
4. The largest wheel and tire size officially supported by BMW for the 530xi is 245/40-18 on 18 x 8 front and 275/35-18 on 18 x 9 rear.
5. One of our members, NES, put Style 128 wheels, which have the identical dimensions and offsets to the Style 172 wheels, on his 530xi, and had problems with rubbing on the rears, and ended up switching them out for four "fronts".
6. They will "fit" on a 530xi, but because of the hub placement, the offsets will cause problems. See this for an illustration of Style 166 wheels on a 530xi and my concerns about it here.
7. The bad news is that this wheel and tire configuration doesn't rub on the inside rear, it rubs on the *outside*, meaning you can't fix it with spacers (but might be able to with fender rolling).
I've looked into this a great deal because those are exactly the wheels I wanted to get. I still may try at some point...but after my dealer told me they wouldn't cover anything related to the wheels, hubs, brakes, or suspension if I put those wheels on, and after finding the largest official supported wheel and tire sizes for the 530xi, and after seeing that the Style 128 wheel (which has the identical characteristics to the Style 172 wheel and was used with the same tires) had problems on an xi, I opted to get Style 124. I hope this helps...
