I think you are right because you are using 3" Instead of flexible tubing I use 2" same as DINAN with fully PVC tubes. The flexible tubing has turbulence.
Please anyone confirm the original DINAN for 545i is same for 550i ? if it does, the installation must be same for both.

the lines that are in your way are oil cooler lines...you need to slightly bend them in order for it to fit correctly...i did the same intake on my 06 550i...if you do this be very careful not to kink the lines...bend them slowly...let me know if you need any more help with it

miguex very nice setup, how did you manage to know which tube sizes to get and which angles? I would rather have used the 2" PVC tubing. It also seems like you routed the PVC tube right under the anti freeze hose. Im awaiting on my M5 duct then i will proceed to complete the project hopefully.

this is John (Brabusw209amg). I'm at Alihan's place and it's logged under his username. I looked at his engine bay. It's almost impossible to get into the 550i with the dual duct mod. You really may need a 2" piping. There's basically no room. Mebbe u can think of something. Anybody have a picture of the dinan 550i intake?

Seems strange to title the thread the way you did just because you can't get a part that's made for the car to fit yourself? I thought it was a thread about a Dinan mod that didn't work. haha

Yes, use 2" in all the ducts and about the angles buy several elbows about 5 of 45 degrees and 5 of 90 degrees and 1 pipe.... you will need to measure the pipe and cut it. so just puzzle them then after all fit, glue them but leave the pipe unglued and use clap instead. for easy removal.
then if you want, you can return elbow left for refund.
I bought the pvc in Home Depot.
Note: the PVC does not need insulators by the way and the resist the heating.

yes exaclty its impossible to get a 3" piping to work, but i may have something working just maybe. i will report back once im done.

ok i just got done installing everything and all. i dont know if im happy with it, i took a quick spin felt more low torque not so much above 60mph. i bet its my mind playing games. I am going to order the RPI scoop and see how i like it. Im going to apply insulation, probably going to get the one you can tie, so i wont have to take the tubes apart.
A tip for the M5 duct which i must say was a PITA, the whole process really was. You can unscrew the screws by the bumper, the ones you would when your installing the RPI scoop, that will give you lots of leisure and you can get the M5 duct in. And ofcorse remove the headlight.
BTW if anyone wants to do this , get 2" flex tube, DO NOT ATTEMPT 3"

Thats a great idea, but with the 550i i think it would be too much of an hassle.
