I updated your M5 mirror thread with these details.
I actually had never come across a 2 pin plug in the car and thought that 3 was the smallest plug you could find. That was until you told me about your puddle light experience and then I found a 2 pin plug, when I was installing my reverse camera, that has been used on the boot lid switch. Ofcourse I found a 2 pol socket holder but that part on realoem has been superceeded. Also I had to write to Tyco directly to ask them for the BMW part for the mating pin holder - even BMW couldn't help me here. The 2 pin holder is not even listed under our cars!
