Over the weekend I planned to remove my chrome door trim, sand it down and paint it matte black.

I took off the rubber seals and when looking at the clips I realised I didn't trust myself to put a screwdriver in there and hammer them out!!

I didn't want to bend them or break them.

I had some 2inch wide PVC vinyl tape, I think the label said it was for wrapping pipes?

Anyway, I though what the heck, lets see what I can do.

The top rear trim was hard as I had to stretch and curve the tape around the curve near the bottom.

The bottom trim was very easy, any air bubbles were popped with a needle and smoothed out.

I watched my girlfriend's E87 getting it's roof and mirrors wrapped on Saturday so that helped alot with how do it.

I think the weather being 25 degrees centigrade helped as it stretched easily.

I only managed to do one side before I had to go out for lunch.

I think I may try the other side with some 1 inch tape as it will be easier to manipulate around the bends.

In the morning I am having my car washed so will see how it holds up and then will post pics.

I have wrapped 3 pieces already.

I will eventually buy the OEM pieces.

Just had the car washed and they came out fine, I will now remove the 3 pieces and do all 8 this weekend.

Should work fine. I did for 10 Hong Kong members, all felt good and no peel off afterward.

What tape or vinyl did you use?

Did you have trouble with the upper rear trim? where it curves near the bottom.

Cut to 1" width, softern the vinyls by lighter or hair dryer. Easy and keep your mind in peace will get set done.

It's hot here anyway so I didn't have a problem with having to heat up the vintl.

I may try to find a 1 inch wide vinyl tape.
