Hello All:
I was thinking of getting the Dinan Throttle Body for my 04 545i. I already have exhaust (custom Magnaflow Quad Setup) and just ordered my AFE from R1Racer (thanks Joe). I am still up in the air about which ECU Re-Flash I want to go with, but am def. going to get it re-flashed. My question is, can I do this mod.? I am assuming I don't need the Dinan Flash or their specific exhaust or intake correct? If I buy and install this piece before getting the ECU Flashed, will it cause any problem? Dinan's site claims 5hp. Is this with the Dinan Flash, Exhaust and Intake? Any help would be greatly appreciate.
Thank You,

You won't have any problems, BUT Dinan always says it's "best" to go with all Dinan...you know how that goes.

My Ride: M6 E63 Sapphire black
Z3 Coupe R4Turbo Hellrot, semi race. (670bhp)
Z3 Coupe V8Turbo design work ongoing, full race.
Sold: 545i Titanium Silver
My personal thought.
You will probably gain more valuable impact by extending the short radii, just before the throttle body on the inlet tube
A wide smooth radii into the throttle body would be prefered. (And that?s how I will do it )
Wierd that no profit driven tuner/company sell such tube?
But then it ruins the possibility to sell you the CAI air filter box with the extra hose routed in front off this inlet tube
Is there any flow rate graph between original and Dinan drilled body?
Probably more realiable info than just a result from measured engine power.
When reporting as less as 1.5% gain on a 325hp engine I assume that the engine power measurement is done with MSA (Measurement System Analysis) on the equipment and a capability study on a range of results?

Some good questions.
I was looking at getting this done as well.
However, after talking to my buddy who sells / installs the Dinan equipment, he commented that there was such low gains from a part that cost that much.
Also, the throtle body that comes stock on the 545i was pretty good as is.
I would like to know what your thoughts are if you get this done.
Please keep me informed of the before and after responce.
I would rethink of doing this mod if I could get some positive feedback from one of us who had actually done this mod.
Good luck and let me know how it goes.
