I have to have a bit of a chuckle over this thread............ it's going nowhere ...... the V8 guys could care less about a HP upgrade via Dinan yet the I6ers are all hot and anxious about the newly announced Dinan upgrade for the TT , Isn't it better to love what you have vs looking over your shoulder for the next best thing .......... By the time you add the Dinan upgrade and the all the other performance and body parts you'll be within spitting distance of a well appointed 550MSport ...........and , with no risk of frying your engine and warranty .......... Just MHO !
Everyone wants more HP. I think the question was in if you really gain 30whp from an exhaust, intake and software.

The 535/335 is a totally different ballgame. Extracting extra horsepower from a turbo engine is relatively easy compared to a naturally aspirated engine like the V8 in the 550.

Just to clarify, the horsepower gains claimed by Dinan are not at the wheel, they're at the crank.

I had really wanted to do some upgrades, but with the new engine out in a few years I see no reason to do it in my case. I plan on changing over to the TT v-8 shortly after it is available and spending several K now on mods would be useless. Now if I had the V-6 TT now I would definately do the software upgrade.

But where do they get those numbers. They dyno the cars and get a wheel HP figure. From that HP figure, they extrapolate the crank HP.

How much will the S2 package be? My lease is up in 10 months, my buy out is 42,233.00.. For about 10000.00 more I will be able to pick up same year M5 with same miles.. So I think that will be a better option over keeping my car and using Dinan...

^The M5 will be the better option unless your concerned about warranty and perhaps, mileage.

Either way I will have to get an extended warranty for the 550 or the M5...

I'm sure that's what they do which just occured to me that I should have asked them what drive train loss percentage they used. Maybe JetBlack can chime in.

But back to the claimed gains, it's quoted in crank HP not WHP which means it's more believable. For the 545, they show a peak gain of 29hp from throttle body, intake, exhaust and software. I don't think that's too unrealistic considering other tuners claim over 20hp just from software alone.

Sorry man, BMW currently does not offer extended warranty for the M5.
