The S-Packages for the 545i have been out for a while, but just recently, the S-Packages for the 550i have been released. All I'm missing is the rear shock brace to make my car a true S1. No biggie. It's when I read the power figures that made my jaw drop. I was quoted an estimated 390 hp a while back when I added the CAI, and now seeing it officially in print gave me the chills. Anyway, here's a scan from the newly released mini-brochure. The S-Packages and prices haven't been posted (yet) on the Dinan website, but for those like myself who are true Dinan gearheads, just thought you'd like a preview. Enjoy ...

Only +20/25 HP ?
Here we'd say they sell smoke .
No catalysts, no new camshafts ... Too expensive, but RD remain the best shop .

Sounds good on paper...wonder what happens to the fuel econ?
Exactly nothing (except for the 3.45 differential) .
With serious mods, instead, the fuel economy will increase a little .

I don't see pricing for the 550 S Packages though, just the 545.

Just advance the ignition and/or back off a bit with the fuel in "cruise mode"
Just "munching" a small bit on the safety margins for knock

In general there is no magic when it comes to ECU mapping for a N/A engine.
Just fuel and ignition. When it comes to turbo engines it start to be a bit more tricky. Or at least more time consuming.

The interesting part is how well Dinan and other tuners master the possibility to work with Vanos and Valvetronic. (And the adjustable intake manifold)
Is there someone at this forum who have information or some map figures?
People in Swe that have mapped S50 engines with turbo tells about huge improvements, when start labborating with Vanos settings (Instead of the common Vanos disengagement when turbo charging the engine)
