The original software is now the Stage 2 with the same 384 hp and 421 ft/lbs, the new Stage 1 is $500 cheaper and produces 366 hp and 379 ft/lbs. They also have an exhaust system for the 535.

I am thinking of Stage 2 myself and I'd be curious on anyone's feedback who has already completed it. I realize the stated power increases will be felt but curious if there are any adverse or side effects. I assume mpg will drop but curious what a real-world example is? - of course I can see it dropping just from the change in driving habits due to the need to test the new software
I'm also curious about if it has any effect on the hestitation I feel unders certain circumstances. I am more hestitant to do the Sprint Booster upgrade (which I understand addresses this) than the Dinan software upgrade. My wife's ride is an '03 540iT and the power just seems to be more "sudden" than on the 535xi.

I didn't have any hesitation before or after. The 540/545/550 have a more sudden feeling powerband because they are peakier than the 535. My gas mileage is the same. You will floor it less than you think otherwise you will be exercising the brakes as much as the turbos. Search my posts for more detailed assessment of the Stage 2.

This is just awesome power and I agree if I had that engine package would jump all over it!!!!
Wonder if Dinan is working on a version for people considering the X6 35i...IMO would make it more apealing than X6 50i which is $11K more.
