Why do you think BMW has two different ones? Do you think they are more than esthetics and are designed for different purposes? I thought maybe A was for the full slush defense and B was just for wet feet. What do you think?

Firewired, I think you are correct. Having option A, but only seeing the picture of option B, I can tell you that the ridges on A are pretty deep. They certainly appear deeper than B does in the picture. Your reasoning is as good as any thing I can think of. Also, as I look at the two, option B does appear to be a bit nicer than A. I guess what I'm saying is not quite as spartan in appearance. Option A is just a sea of rubber, with some minimalist designs on it. Option B is a bit more stylish (if you lie the shapes used) and has the patch of carpet for your heal when driving. Anyway, we don't go 3 days without rain here, so the nice carpet mats that came with the car (in gray) were taking a beating from my wet shoes every other day or so. The rubber was a no brainer.

I have the option A mats, and i think they're great also. I picked them up from someone on ebay but i didnt get the anchors that come with them. Anyone with these mats know what kind of anchors are used because mine slide around a lot.

I've got A. they are low maintenance, just use a soft brush to scrub and then hose em off!

If you like C. better, i'd only use them in good weather and not around any wet, greasy or dirty sidewalks.

I opted for the B floormats. Being in Germany and seeing both...I wanted a better quality floormat. B seemed heavier and more sturdy. Also they have the screw downs to avoid any movement. I love'em. Good mats.

The type A mats have a hole punch out and come with hooks. The velcro comes out with a turn or two and the hook anchors go in the same way (opposite turn - of course).
