If you got access to an Autologic machine the coding takes around 5 minutes and its fully automated.
Just make sure the Dension is hooked up to the car first.

As a follow up, I wanted to share my experience since my last post. It turns out my in dash CD player does work, but it is very finicky. If I put in a new CD, most of the time it wouldn't read the disc at all. However, if I left the car alone for some extended amount of time (say an hour or two), when I start the car, I noticed the CD being recognized and I could play music off of it. Very rarely did it play from a CD that was just inserted. Sometimes I could perform the iDrive reset (press both eject buttons of the in dash disc players and the volume knob at the same time) and a freshly inserted disc might be read, but it wasn't 100% consistent. And after all that, it didn't look like it would read MP3s from a disc (either the CD or DVD drives).

I recently purchased the cable necessary to code the car and after performing a few basic codings, set to work to enable the MP3 functionality. I coded the +KMP3 option to the VO in both CAS and LMA and enabled MP3 in the CAPPL module. I now have the ability to play MP3s from discs I burn. Also, every disc I have inserted into the CD drive has been recognized and can be read without a problem. Having this capability will tie me over until I fully install the Dension Gateway 500, which I'm currently working on.
