Dension ice link 500 US E60 installation
#1
Anyone going to give this a shot? Looks amazing wtih AUX, USB, and IPOD for Pre-LCI E60. Idrive driven. Video input option. Looking at the manual, it looks to be a self-install if you already have the CD-changer and your head-unit already plays MP3.

Apparently someone in the E90 thread called the US/Canada distributor. The part cost $549 + 40 delivery to California.
Thinking about being a guinea pig on this one...
Looks great

From E90 post:

will the video functionality be available as well?
AFAIK, video is limited to the AV extender to use with an Ipod 5G - I do not have this part and have no intention of buying it. There's also a bluetooth module for a wireless connection to a bluetooth music player and/or phone. Again, I don't have this.

I do not believe the Dension 500 will be capable of displaying video on the iDrive screen. You can probably connect it up to screen capable of accepting an RCA connection e.g. headrests etc. So as such the ACM is still superior. However the Dension does allow you to connect everything via standard plugs.

http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=1062 = $449 + shipping
http://enfigcarstereo.com/shopsite_sc/stor...l/BMW_IPOD.html = $499 + $11 shipping to california.. 14 day return policy.. I think I will order and hope it works.. can always return it!
Too bad the video-output isn't to the Idrive monitor but to an external monitor.. would still need ACM... but, hard drive via USB is awesome...

Well I just received mine today.
I was wondering if there is any one who can help on installation on E60 5 series.
It does not look like it is a DIY installation though. It may require some panel removal.
I am not sure. I may use BMW knowledgeable HiFi installer if I can find one in Dallas area.
I will take some pictures as we install it and post result soon.
In the mean time my car is at a dealer for some other problem today.
