Looks like we're getting what we've been asking for!!!
Icelink 500 is listed on Dension website. no pricing yet, but looks like it will link with iDrive and has all connectors for iPod.

must be hot of the press cause they have'nt amended their compatability data yet:
Dension Compatability Info
To be honest though, now I've sorted out my ipod connection via the aux in and installed a powered mount so that I can easily use the clickwheel while driving.... I can't see that this is going to be any better for me....
I'll wait and see how it works in practice...

does anyone know if this interface only works if you have a cd changer? checked out the website but it doesn't say.
I think it will connect to the stacker port. So if you have one - you'll probably lose it and if you don't you''ll be alright.

I wonder if it hooks up to the car via the CD changer prewire in the trunk. Then that way the ipod is always out of sight, and everything can be controlled through iDrive.

I think that was the E39! My E60 has its CD changer most def in the glovebox.
I might be clutching those straws but iIf you read the link it implies you get to keep the CD changer: "while retaining the OEM CD changer"
My big question is how much we have to pay BMW to make the I-Drive see this box, I will be impressed if this can be installed without handing over additional beer tokens to BMW
