I have a UK spec 2009 E60 520D se with Business Nav and CDC (glovebox). The single cd/dvd player in the dashboard plays MP3 cds showing text on the screen.

I have today installed a Dension 500 following the instructions included in the box with the fibre optic cables that originally went into the CDC plugged into the Dension (car side) and a separate (2 way) fibre optic cable running from ther Dension (CDC side) to the CDC.

After updating the firmware on the Dension, I have managed to get the IPOD (and US working through the Dension. HOWEVER, I do not get any text info displayed on the head unit - just track numbers.

I have read about the subject extensively and found how some people have managed to get the IPOD showing text info on the display ok. What am I doing wrong.

I appreciate that the Dension website says that E60s with Business do not display Text BUT it looks like some people have made it work??!!

It sounds like you are in the iPod user interface menu. Try to find the "source" menu. It should look like this:

1) Gateway AUX
2) Gateway UI
3) iPod UI
4) Gateway USB

Select "Gateway UI" for text on screen ( this locks the iPod controls, but allows folder searching on the iDrive )
iPod UI unlocks the iPod controls but has no onscreen control.

I don't see any of those options, just 6 CDs / discs. Which seem to replicate playlists maybe? Disc 6, tracks 2 and 3, can be used, holding the forward key on the steering wheel to toggle either control via ipod or control via i drive. But no sign of those menu options.

Make sure you have the dip switches set correctly. I had the same issue until I changed the dip switches settings and everything worked. I don't remember exactly what the settings are, but you can find it by searching on here.

Good luck
