Excuse me, but the amount of money is relative. I can buy lots of things with $4300; that's a lot of money. Back to top:

In summary, debadging in Europe is cool, but it's not so cool in the US. Depending on where you live, or if you listen to the differing opinions, make your decision. Good luck.
Bimmer32, sorry if you misunderstood but I referred to what I thought was inappropriate.
Regardless, thanks for the comment
If its a 525 leave it debadged but if 530 or higher I would re-badge down the road...the higher the number the more respect you seem to get.

Simple answer. Rebadge it so that it looks factory.
Outside the US debadge is a factory option just like heated seats or whatever... Your's 'Looks factory' has nothing to do with it! In Europe it's a common choice, looks cleaner. No car has been designed to have that ugly looking sign glued to it's back!
Give your head a shake. Go to the exotic car auction in Phoenix, Barrett Jackson, and see if "looks factory" applies to the cars they sell for record pricing. Corvettes, HEMI's, Mustangs, etc. But if the most intelligent comment you can make is that no car was designed for "that ugly sign" on the back, then theres not much sense debating it with you.

the badging issue again......

basically it comes down to this mate :

if you like aesthetics = off
if you have an ego = on

both of the above = on
none of the above = flip a coin...
You're telling me that because someone orders a car and leaves it alone as the factory built it, then that automatically implies they bought it for ego??? Are you high? I was nearly killed by a drunk driver at the end of September, and I ultimately ordered a BMW because it is one of the safest cars in the world. My decision had absolutely nothing to do with ego. Good grief!

Come on Trev. How about no flaming, no insulting, and respecting others and their opinions? I think that is what we are about in our discussions. You objections to what others have said could be addressed in a more friendly fashion--not that what you said was horrible. I've just been noticing a tendency in the other direction.

Best, Znod

Come on Don

You have to take those comments with a grain of salt. I figured the thread was getting a bit stale so I thought I would stir the pot a little I have been flamed worse then that on here, and I assume most people are just kidding around or whatever, as I am. Relax bud!

this thread reminded me of one thing.... sometimes I see people with 2 liters badged to V8 or something. Well mostly MB owners love to put AMG badge on their cars..... but you can tell in is not and AMG.......... rebadge 520 to 545 ???? people are so poor minded that they have to "buy" a better status for their ego. What a better car makes you a better person or what? What about a Ferrari sticker as well NOTE: general comment, no intent to insult anybody here.
Luckily there are not many rebadges BMW around. It is mostly MB people style as far as I can see.....

debadge is a different story..... design wise.... also here in Europe people tent to debadge their cars for safety reasons. Better be all decent and quiet..... no shiny 550i badge.... just looking like an ordinary 520 with no badge
