Thumbs up

Does anybody know if you can have either the illuminated door sills or the bumper sensers installed by your local dealer? The bumper sensers are really a great item, I have them on my X5, unfortunatly my 545i did not come with them. The door sill lites are very cool.

I assume you mean PDC for bumper sensors. The anwer is yes. Both can be installed by the dealer but be prepare to pay quite a bit for both.

install pdc after you p/u the car is not a good idea. the dealer can install only the back sensors, not the front. it only has the beeps, no graphic on the idrive screen. and it's expensive :'(. iceman has illuminated door sills and he posted some pics in his gallery. you might want to check it out. i know they aren't cheap neither :'(.

Just use a flashlight to illuminate the door sills. It's cheaper. Then upgrade your rims/tires with the money you save.

Personally i believe that if you purchased the door sills on a new car purchase transaction they would be covered under the new car warranty and you should not be charged for the installation! For PDC being installed at the factory is better than at the dealer.

I had the door sills installed by the dealer after the car was arrived in dealership. It was an dealer installed item not an order item. It works with the system lighting especially in Auto Lighting mode. It only comes on at night when opening the door.
