Ok guys so as all of you know our stock sound systems lack of bass. I had two 10" MTX sledge hammer subwoofers in a box and it sounded like crap. The whole trunk was rattling and I hated it when I wanted to listen to some louder music. So today I went by a custom audio shop and I got recommended to put a 10" JL Audio Free-Air Marine Subwoofer into my rear seats armrest. He said it will sound way nicer than my old setup. What. Do you guys think? I already left a deposit for the setup and I'm getting it done probably the end of this week. I just want some more crisp bass.

I'm guessing you have a sky pass-through right? If that's the case, yes it will sound pretty nice as long as the installer builds the right box for it. What are you going for sound quality or big bass (SPL)? On my previous ride I had a small 8'' Phase Linear Aliante SI (shallow mount) between the seats (R230 SL so no rear seats) and CDT components up front..crystal clear sound! I'm currently working on building a single 10 tuned ported box for an elemental designs SQ10 just to add a nice bit of low end to the factory logic 7. Not going to rattle windows as I drive by but will be clean sound. Good luck with the install and post pics!!

Having built numerous sound quality cars and won a few competitions. If your looking for sound quality you should go with JL Audio 10 inch W6 in a box. You'll get nice clean and powerful bass without rattling the car apart. If you are trying to have a less bulky system you can use a JL Audio 12 or 13 TW5 slim woofer also sound great and require less air volume so you can do a very slim box.

regular JL Subs or any other subs are not FREE AIR so that is why people have them always in boxes or custom enclosures. And i dont want any boxes in my car anynmore. So that is why i went with the FREE AIR JL Marine subs that people have used in boats, bikes and other stuff but can also be used in cars. Im getting it done by the end of this week so i'll let you guys no how it sounds. If its going to sound like crap i'll get a 10" JL W6 regular sub put in with a custom box made for it behind the rear armrest.
