Bring it to the dealer. They will fix it. There is a TSB and a video explaining how to do the mod.

robq,

I just had my 530 in for service, and complained about the cupholders ejecting cups and cans, and that I heard there was a fix. He told me there was no official BMW fix out there. Do you know the TSB #, or have a link to it? That way, I can do half of the SA's work for him, and at least show him what needs to be done, lol!

Thanks for any other info you have

Ejecting cup's and can's? Mine have never done that even when they are empty.

my fix is to ensure when i push the holder in, use one finger placed at the center of the plate, one swift stroke going in until confimed 'cilick' is heard.
the holder ejects gracefully each and every time thereafter.

My original cupholders broke after I had the car for a couple of months. Both the cupholders broke, or got stuck in the "out" position. The dealer replaced them, and the replacements are slightly different then the ones that originall came with the car. The original cupholders worked great, and held cans/cups just fine. The replacements are designed in a way that the spring mechanism seems to prevent a cup/can from seating properly. So, it's wobbly and loose in the holder, and the minute you start to drive, it spills, or completely falls out. That's the "eject" feature I was referring to, lol. It will automatically eject a cup or can.....not exactly the design I'd be looking for in a cupholder!! robq mentioned above that there is a TSB out on them, and I would love to find that. My dealer has pretty much told me all he can do is replace the cupholders again, but that will just give me the same problem.

you could also check out Ultimate Cupholders . I've been emailing him back and forth, and he has a model that seems to work well for the e60. I'm just about to order one.
