Hi,

Has anyone used the Continental ContiSportContact 2 on their E60? This is the tire of choice for the new M5.

I have them on my Lexus LS430 Sport, and they work great. The turning responce is great.

Thanks

Danny Z

Can't say from personal experience, but according to Tire rack rating, they are low on the list. But maybe BMW knows something with the M5 that no one knows.

Tire Rack Max Perfomance Summer Comparison Table

I wonder if BMW will equip the US M5 with the Highperformance tires or All Seasons.

Perhaps Continental inked some kind of limited exclusive deal to supply OEM tires for the M5 (especially if these tires are lower rates as compared to other alternatives)

i have used them on My jaguar, Benz and Porsche I like them alot, Much better than Pirelli and the Pilots are great but a bit loud and harsh for the ride, hey Conti builds the Superchar tire I think to go over 200MPH for some of the Germany Tuners.

I've had the Contis on an Audi and a Porsche previously. Very good tyre. Much cheaper than Pilots, but almost as good.

I probably have bought 5 sets of Contis. 16" and 18". Never had that problem.

Maybe your car?

I read most of the comments on the TireRack and like several folks mentioned it seems many of the reviewers there are getting the ContiSportContact and ContiSportContact "2" confused. I would be surprised if the 2's were used as MB OEM in 2003 as they are a relatively new release, although I could be wrong.

The 2's are said to be a vast improvement to the ContiSportContact's.

Then again this is all hear-say as I have never owned a set.

I have ordered a set of 19" 128's from a BMW dealer in Germany.
Standard tyres on this set was the Michelin Pilots, but they have changed to Conti Sport 2, which probably means that BMW will use Continental on all their new tyres.

How is the comfort of the 19" Conti Sport 2?
Is the ride smooth enough?

My wheels will be here in 5 days. Hurrah!

Please give some information on how the tyres are in everyday use...

Thank you

Claus
