Took my first extended road trip yesterday and the seats were lacking on the comfort side of things. I'd like to try and find a set of black front seats, don't need rears.
I'm assuming it would be a pretty straight forward swap with dealer programming needed. Where can one find these used I'm sure new would be stupid expensive so how much should I expect to pay without getting ripped off if I do find them?
I'm also thinking of seeing about putting some sort of padding on the armrest and doors for some extra comfort.

Im with you on the seats I just Bought a Pair of blackones that should be showing up today Paid $825 for them shipped from PA to CT out of a 2006 550i going in my 2004 545i
going to change them myself and move the seatbelt pretisioned off my sport seats and then install the comforts and then take to the dealer to hopefully clear the SRS (airbag) faults
to find the seats I went to http://www.copartfinder.com/finder/searchMake.do and it searchs vechiles sold to salvage yards from Copart insurance auctions and it has images of the cars and the yard that bought them
