Is there a source for a cold air intake for the 545i? I was wondering as I have read that it was available and then not available etc. K&N offered one and then it went away....and even then has anyone tested these to see if it even creates any extra horsepower or gas mileage? Most importantly though, does it sound Good? Great? Nasty? Let me know!!

AFE CAI for the 550i will make the intake roar, but you will have to custom fit it for the 545i. The only shop in Socal I know that can do it is Eurorev in Inglewood. Your other choice is Dinan's CAI but it's pricey.

Anyone else out there know about the CAI for a 2005 545i? I'd love to unleash a bit more of this engine along with the sound of a more open intake too! Let me know!

My Ride: 2007 E63 M6: Silverstone Metallic... Fully loaded2005 DINAN5 (545i): Jet Black... Fully loaded1955 Chevy: Custom
Dinan engineered CAI (High Flow Intake System) specifically for BMW 545i with claimed of 17 peak horsepower gain @6500 rpm and Stage 2 Performance Engine Software tune for use with it. I have both, beautiful fitment design, acceleration is smooth/powerful and definite sounds enhancement with my RDSport quad exhaust setup .

The pipe coming from the throttle body to the air mass sensor it 3.2". You can buy a u-bend from wolf aircraft and cut it in half and then you can have the pipe. Next you need a heat sheild which I started to use carbon fiber, but the it was not thick enough, so the project has stalled. You should be able to make a professional looking CAI for less then $200.
