Cic upgrade in E61 LCI
Hi everyone,
I've tried finding information about doing a Cic upgrade in a E61 LCI but there seems like most of the guides is for pre-LCI.
I have an E61 2009 with the old stereo without navigation but I do have the new idrive-controller though.
What parts is required for me to complete the upgrade?
Here is my stereo

I've done this swap a few times, there are plenty of write ups. Essentially you have a E60 with some extra glass. You'll need the following and I don't have the part numbers but search eBay and they're pretty readily available:
CIC Screen (it will have a purple PIN connection on the back, NOT A RECTANGLE)
Pin Wires, (two of them)
USB port with PIN connection
the actual CIC unit
and finally the Emulator.
All in it cost me about 600$ and i was frugal, but it literally is all plug and play. We are lucky where our cars are new enough that we don't have the hassle with the climate controls, or the new idrive controller.
I love the swap, I think it's probably the best upgrade i've done.

I am in process of doing this on a 2008 E61 LCI 535xi. It's been an adventure so far. I will let you know if I am successful and complete the project. JT

Since you have an LCI E61 the CIC retrofit is not that hard. I completed my retrofit a few years ago and have been very happy with it.
Based on your photos, you will need to find the trim piece under the climate controls that does not have the small recessed area. The CIC head unit it taller than your current head unit so your current trim won't work.
Also if you have the S676 hifi option, the subwoofers will not work without some minor wiring changes. I can send you the wiring diagram if this applies to you.

edit: actually my car has 677 rather than 676.
