Picked up my new chrome grills today. Thought I'd give the old tractor a V8 makeover. Looking forward to fitting them I drove home and started.

What a fcuking nightmare that was!!!!! <_<

My hands are cut to shreads they are a right bast*rd to get out. Those clips round the sides are designed to stay. Hope I didn't offend my neighbours to much as I swore them in

It was worth all the trouble they look really cool and my std ones are all packed up ready to be thrown back on when I sell the car and Ebay the V8 ones for just under what I paid.

No scratches either

Clive,

Your spot on there!

Have a look at JayEll's gallery it looks identical aprt from the wheels.

It transforms the front - the chrome slats match the slats on the radiator behind.

Merv,

Hope you don't mind me asking but how much were the chrome replacements. I did the same with my E39 a couple of years ago but this is the first thread I have seen where someone has done it on an E60.

Hedikmn - The kidney grills are the face of BMW, you can't black them in. You want them to standout

Fatlab - ?56 each from main dealer. Also he got then in 2 days from ordering. You'll always be able to sell them on later and refit the black ones

I cannot believe Pontiac doesn't get sued for stealing that design.

But... then again... GM is like beyond broke, so lots of good it would do, huh? They just announced $1.1 Billion losses.
