Hi, I'm new to this forum, which is excellent btw. I have seen that a few of you have fitted the chrome grills to the front of your cars. I have been looking at doing this to my car (Titanium Silver, Oct 2005 520d SE). There appears to be two sorts of grills available, the OEM thin slats and a non genuine wider slat grill. The OEM is twice the price but is it worth it? and also are they easy to fit.

Thanks

Hi and welcome. I had the OEM chrome grill in my car and in my opinion they look better than the other after market version (wider). They were a little frustrating at first to install, those clips can be hard to take out. Just exercise patience, it will look great.

I went for OEM, I had a none OEM on my old Merc and it was pretty poor quality so I though I should go for the official one this time.

Some pics:

The old ones can be taken out by breaking the clips that hold em in place, took me about 15 minutes to fit mine and heres what my old ones looked like once I was done

About ?95 from bmwmstyle.co.uk for an OEM part and $90 (?55)?? from ebay for a non genuine, only started looking today so maybe cheaper elsewhere.

norham, mambo

Both of your cars look good, what a difference it makes. Think I will get a price from the dealer, also will ask how much to fit, don't want to damage my baby!!
