I don't think anyone is going to subscribe to your newsletter without seeing a sample. Provide a link to the newsletter itself, and if people like what they see, they'll subscribe.
That said, people are leary these days about giving out their email address. You will need to provide assurances about how you will protect their private information. Also, what are your credentials?
