I am moving from TX to Ohio for 3 months only. My current tires are bald and need replacement. I have a very limited budget and need to replace my tires immediatly before making this trip. Are there any viable options for ~$125/tire for the 225/50/17s? Winter tires are out of the question because I will only be in Ohio for 3mo. and then coming back to Texas.

Try www.discounttiredirect.com they ship you the tires for free and you dont pay taxes either, pretty sweet. Then you just have to find a place to mount and balance. Since youre on a limited budget you could go to Walmart and have them mount and balance. Like $10-$15 a tire.

Also since you dont want to go full winter, I would recommend you get a good all-season tire, and keep some snow cables in your trunk for the 3 months your in Ohio, just in case.

I have a 2004 BMW 530I and purchased the Goodyear Eagle F1 all-seasons. They are AMAZING in the snow/ rain / and street. HIGHLY recommend.

Discount tire is great because if you go there location you can work out deals with them and it turns out even cheaper then buying them online. Whenever I go to a Discount tire I always get mounting and balancing free and discount on the tires. Also if you need alignment Firestone is great they have a deal that is $160 for the life of the car. So you can get them aligned as often as you need without paying the $100 the dealership charges every time.

Just some advice, the only thing that makes contact with you and the road are your tires... That being said, it doesn't matter if you have a pinto or an BMW, your tires can save your life. I wouldn't go too cheap you know. Have you tried tirerack.com?

+1 for Tirerack.

There are at least 8 UHP/HP All-Season tires available from Tirerack, that are below your $125 max price:

The Kumho Ecsta ASX is listed as an "all season" tire and it's price tag is very low...any experience with this tire in ohio-type weather?

I just sent you a PM. I live in Ohio and have some OEM wheels and Continental tires that you can have for $200 (all four). Lots of tread left. Wheels are like new.

There's huge difference between summer and winter tires.

There's huge difference between shitty winter tires and good winter tires.

Your tires need to fail you only once and then you are "up f**k sh** creek".

dude do you know how much it snows in Ohio? you need tracks not tires. I say leave your car in TX and use public transportation opposed to buying cheap tires.
