Just that I'm clear on this, every v8 will have the "box" but only cars in the US will have the Charcoal filter?
Every car will have the "box" period. And it seems all US E60's V8's and I6's have the charcoal filter. I don't know if anyone in the great white north has checked it.

I will in the next few days ... the city is working on my alley this week so I can't get into my garage and I don't want to work on the car in front of my house.

Been awhile since the last time I came. Anyway, I have a picture to show that I've done the resonator delete and capped it.

Here's my collection of junk in the air box. A cigarette butt, some leaves and some dirt/sand. I don't know if I noticed any improvement in performance, but it does seem to make a bit more intake sound when accelerating hard (throttle all open). It could also be my imagination.

Now that some of you have done this mod 5 months ago what are your observations and has it caused you any trouble with your SA?

No. My car was in for service last week and my SA didn't even notice.

strange, i tried to remove mine but it is sealed around the corners. The plastic has been "melted" on so I would have to break the plastic on the corners. I tried to pry it off with a screwdriver but its on pretty tight. I don't see any clips...

I have a 2007 530i, and the filter is there (although now it is gone!).

One note of caution. Those little metal clips are not very secure. I had to remove the flooring on the car after two clips fell off. I still can't find one of them, so I may have to get an extra clip from the dealer.

Best,
