Default Changing the Color of OEM Xenon Pre-LCI

I have an 06 pre LCI with xenon lights and noticed that the LCI's have a more bluish tint to their lights (among other upgrades )

So after some hard googlin', I was wondering if I replace the bulbs with with say a 10,000 Kelvin or 12,000 Kelvin D1S will I achieve a bluish result?

Can you actually just plug and play different temperature bulbs with the OEM Xenon ballast? no error messages or flickers?

I'm thinking of going with this:

HID Kits, BMW Aftermarket Bumpers & Lighting, DEPO - DDM Tuning

I've had good results from them on my e46 when I needed the entire kit (bulb +ballast)

Any input gentlemen?

edit: note that they say the D1S bulbs are directly fitted to the OE ballast

10000k-12000k is closer to purple than blue, not to mention it will not light up better. Stock should be 4300k so if you really want more blue, aim at 5000k-6000k max. Higher K's doesn`t mean brighter light though.
Maybe you can change the color of your AE for more blue.

The stock bulbs are about 4300K, Replace with 6000K to achieve a more "blue" result. Personally I would stick with 5000-6000K and would not go above that or you lose light output.

The bluish tint on the LCI is also caused by the projector lens which is slightly frosted. I switched to clear lens on my LCI with xenons and my lights became more yellowish. I went up to 5000K bulbs and it gave me a whiter light.

gosh, don't get 10,000K! that's like purple! 6000 should be your upper limit!

These are ok...but the only way to get pure white light without losing brightness is to go 50W.
