so once the weather gets under 50 degrees, you have to put winter tires on?
i thought winter tires only for snow, no?
have been on all season now, thinking to get a set of summer and winter, but if i cant run summer below 50 degrees, then maybe i should keep all seasons, or some other brands summer tires can handle cold weather?

Summer tires' compound will get really hard and loose its grip even on dry pavement when it is cold. For some tires its still ok, for others it is very noticeable.

That was the TOP 5 MultiMediaMessage EVA sent to my BlackBerry! Bwahahahahaha!!
Lesson: Don't drive like a jacka$$ on summer tires in the winter on a second date.
Now you know! And knowing is half the battle. GIjoe!!
BTW it was 28 degrees that day, not 45.

This would of never happened with Bridgestone, Pirelli, Hankook, etc.

It wasn't the driving, it was the Sumitomos.... Didn't you read the title?

It may not have been the tires or the temperature as much as it was the erratic, or should I say erotic, driving caused by new GF road head.

Regardless of the brand, summer performance tires use a rubber compound that loses substantial amounts of grip at cold temps. They are not intended to be driven in cold weather. If you live in a cold winter climate, it is much safer to ride on, at a minimum, all season tires in the winter. Come mid-November here in NYC, I swap my summer performance tires for dedicated snows that I usually keep on until mid-April.

I think Sean (chowbox) understand Summer/Winter tires pretty well given that he's from the Minnesota. His post is meant to be funny.
