I put the carbon fiber fabric on the sides of my steering wheel that was peeling...

it looks great...not sure all the work was QUITE worth it...but now that i'm done i like it...

most of this extra time was my own fault...when disconnecting the battery i...
A. dropped the bolt of the battery in the battery well
B. accidentally let my subwoofer pos. touch the neg. and blew the fuse....

then when it came to the steering wheel...Anzafin was not kidding when he said popping that metal piece that releases the airbag is a real S.O.B...dismantling after that wasn't too bad...but when you pull 2 little pieces off about 2 hours later...you feel a bit "under accomplished"

here are the pics though lemme know what you think...

HA! You've beat me to the punch - I've been carrying out this idea for months! LOL Now that you have, I'm sure I want it though, so thanks and congrats. You know, that time you've spent doing all this - it came and went, but this mod will look great for years to come!

BTW was it hard to fit the CF over the top pieces (where all the buttons are)? That is what has me worried. Also, what kind of CF wrapping did you use?

Looks good, only thing I wouldve done differently is having the direction of the carbon fiber going in the same direction or at least somewhat more symmetrical. It kinda looks funny with the fibers going in all sorts of directions.

You'd think BMW after all these years would learn their lesson but NOOOO! We still get peeling trims generation after generation!

What do you think mark up on replacement parts like these is? My guess would be something like a couple of thousand percent - you don't really have to do the math to see why we're still dealing with peeling trim... (sighs) that said, I obviously agree with you 10,000% - in a car of this calibre, it is more than just a little embarrassing.

IMO this CF wrap is a great fix though
Like I stated before, I am planning to do this on my steering wheel and the window control panels (pre-LCI, so they are pretty bulky and very visible).

@Speed Force: +1 on the pattern direction
