I have 545i with gray interior and dark wood. Just doesn't thrill me. I think a lighter wood or even carbon fiber interior would look better. Does anyone have Alpina interior or carbon fiber interior trim? Pics? Sources?

Thanks

I painted my original wood trim with black automotive paint and clearcoat and color sanded and polished it like you would an exterior part. It took 1.5 days including drying time. Polishing the pieces was difficult since there is not much you can do to hold them in place while using a high speed 3 stage liquid polish process. I did it myself so I only paid for it with my time. I would recommend that you buy new black trim pieces from BMW and have them installed. Unless you do it yourself it will be cheaper and turn out better by just buying black trim if it is available. By the way the shift knob and e-brake are from Bimmian and the iDrive wheel is off an M5. Also the other thing I did that added luxury to the interior was the suede headliner that I added. I think suede only comes stock on the M5 so I just re-upolstered mine myself ( not the first time I have done this either.)

Nice! But why didn't you paint the part under the DVD-player?

Maybe I'm seeing things... or maybe it's an artifact of the picture... but on the un-modded headliner... are those water stains I see?

I hope it's on the photo, but it doesn't look that way. It looks like water got in thru the roof, and I'd hate to see what that does to the suede :( Maybe he left it open in the rain or if it was a leak maybe he got it fixed? Ahh screw it why don't we just wait for him to tell us :P

I think that's the way suede looks under flash. I'm pretty sure that normally, it looks fine and not so pronounced.

Does anyone know how much piano black trim pieces cost? Or is anyone also thinking of doing this?

the chang: I was referring to the pic of the headliner BEFORE he suede-o-rized it.
