Does anyone have or know of any good quality carbon fiber hoods that look identical to OEM hood only weigh less obviously. I would love to swap out the hood for a 40 pound savings if possible since I am guessing the hood is one of the heavier parts on our car that is swappable quite easily. It is obviously not made out of aluminum based on how heavy it is

Do a search for Seibon. Their hoods run in the $6-700 range. I believe all E60 hoods are aluminum, though......the CF will save a few pounds but I don't believe over 10.

Hmm good to know-probably not worth the cash then. Not sure why i was thinking this could be a 40 pound saver-thanks!

I like the vented and domed CF hood from Vorsteiner. I would probably paint the dome portion a charcoal/graphite color to match my wheels and the carbon fiber vents. Unfortunately, I'm currently limited to mods that aren't "visible" to the wifey.

You guys must have separate bank accounts because the under the hood mods cost the most!

They have a trunk lid and hood for MSRP of 1500 total. The lid costs more than the hood. These items will work for that member stripping his car out for weight savings
