Regular paint won't "stick" to the chromed metal or will be chipped / worn off quickly. I suppose someone could do a powder coat - that might be more durable. I had one like it for my Z3 but the Z was pointy and kept poking holes in my pants pockets

I have this key ring too, but my dealer gave it to me with a bmw flash light and leather key cover when I pruchased my car.

If you're dead set on making yours matte black, call up a local chrome plater and see how much he'd charge for this small item. Even suggest to him that you're not in a hurry and the next time he does black or gunmetal grey or whatever chrome color, see if he can toss in your keyring.
