Nice looking wheels. Some members, who are more technically saavy than
I, say that reproductions of OEM wheels suffer from more problems. Of course, the OEM 166s are 19s. I have no personal knowledge as I run OEM 172s. But I would be interested in what some of the more knowledgeable members have to say about the wheels.

There is no one answer as it depends on the style of rims. For example a wheel with a lip/deep dish, will use about 1 inch for the lip and the actual wheel design is the rest. So 19s with that design, appears as if they are more like 18s to the eye where as they truly are 19s but the lip plays optical illusions.

I personally would not go over 19s but if you do not get a wheel with a lip, any of the bmw oem ones, than 19s will look great and they do look a lot different than 18s despite what someone said.

I had 18 inch wheels and went up to 19 inch velocity csls and see a huge difference. You sound like its about the looks so I would do 19 inch or 20 if lip/deep dish style
