Hi there,

Im wondering if its possible to a nice sounding & more powerful exhaust for my 520d - personally I really don't like the sound it make (too much like a tank on wheels).

Also is there anything that can be done other than Remapping which I've had done, to increase the torque?

How much difference did you notice after you chipped/remapped your car?
I have a 520d myself with 177 bhp. It would be nice to have a little more...

Well the difference was huge - like day and night. I had mine done by Jason at B&W chipped - it cost me ?120

I put my car against an heavily modded e30 (complete engine rework, bigger bore head, cam shaft, stage 3 system etc) and my car came out on top.
Also did the same against a Jag with 3.0l engine, and won against that.


But saying all of that, now that i've had it for 2 years I can't notice it anymore (although I went back telling him this, and it 'restored' my ECU to the way it was before and the difference was there). So what im trying to say is you'll notice the difference but it becomes the norm after awhile and it loses it affect.

Im not sure if our cars are fitted with a turbo or not, but I've read it maybe possible to turn up the boost on turbos to give alittle more power.


But one thing i will say is get a rolling road done before and after - so you can see the difference, if its not good then take your car back to get re-chipped.

I know that one of the things they change when the engine gets a remapping is the turbo boost! It's increased.

I also know that to have this done here in Norway will cost me about NOK 10 000,-. That would be about ? 1 000 i guess and about $ 1 700. That is Expensive! So i want to be abolutely shure that this has good effect before i spend my hard earned money.

From what i have read - the above will most definately be best! A sprintbooster does not give you more power that you have now, it only makes the horses react quicker.

?1000!?! I hope thats for a custom remapping for that price and rolling roads.

I know a custom remapping here from Chipped UK costs ?500.

Of course the 520d is tubo'd

Jason at Chipped UK did my 320d remap and that was pretty decent I must say.

I thought it was as you can hear it but I couldnt see it in the engine bay (i guess its because i don't know what im looking for).

I take it your car is 2008+ coupe?
