Accepted... though sometime starch feels good...

I'm cool... just think people "protest too much"...

Cheers-

Glad to hear you're cool ! I think the time posts are made has a big impact on their content and tone , I think most guys here care a lot about requests for info and do their best to offer up sound advise or experiences . In this case I think this question has been raised several times prior with lots of great input from everyone so we all just got a little goofy ............ the great thing about this place is people know they're being goofed with .....it's all good !

Be careful with fish line because it will scratch your clearcoat if you are not careful.

I'd spray wd40 to loosen the glue if I can get a small gap, then use several lines of waxed dental floss. Slide it back and forth in combination with wd40 and your fingers to lift the lid lip up.

========================

Thanks Bimmer 32,

I have never done this before, I am a businessman, and I think I am going to take the good mature suggestions here from the forum to my BMW Paint & Body shop probably already know some about these methods, but in case he don?t, I am going to let him see your postings, what has already worked with other e60s owners, and what they have done in the past to reposition their M5 spoilers, without damaging it or the paint on their deck lids. (Doubling the dental floss and using the heat gun, then if no luck, then maybe some WD40, (While I don?t think WD40 is that dangerous when used with heat, but I take no chances, and read all labels, and do my research. I am a GA Paramedic & picked up and treated burn victims from using chemicals to clean their household goods over the years, and I always think of our safety first, and the "what ifs", I will first ck and make sure their not combustible or flammable or heat sensitive when using together), so far dental floss does sound the safest to my paint, but dental floss might not be strong enough, if not, then the fishing line method sounds good, but I really don't know, and I am going to let my body shop and let them decide, but this e60 forum has been great and I am sure my Paint & Body shop don?t know some of these valuable tricks of the trade, (dental floss and fishing line methods), and will appreciate your methods of spoiler removal).

I am so glad for this forum and all of the professional, mature e60 members that are my true e60 friends, that came to help me by their experiences find a solution to my spoiler re position problem, and I might get some sleep now, knowing I am not out $400.00, (which includes, BMW OEM Part, labor and materials), and the reposition my spoiler problem can be corrected!

Thanks again forum,

Eddie aka Presley348

Waxed dental floss is the go, i have used it many times and it works great although you need a lot cause it does break....maybe Colgate should add this into their marketing campaign, i can see it now....a hot chick just out of the shower wrapped in towel out in the garage moving her floss back on forth gentally to remove her miss placed car badge (or spolier in this add campaign).

good luck eddie

Thanks MatyB,

Yea that would be funny, and prob. would make me go out and buy more dental floss, and wish I could see that hot chick wearing nothing but dental floss for her bathing suit too! (LOL)
