My Ride: 07' 550i sport; Sapphire Black/Auburn; sport package; steptronic; navigation with R.T.T.I.; heads up; cold weather package; Logic-7; BMW MOST ipod kit; Motorola V3 snap-in adapter; rear heated seats and rear shades; anthracite headliner; sirrius sat. radio; M-aero kit; OEM style 166 Wheels with 245/35-19 front and 285/30-19 rear Michelin PS2s.
a 255/35 19 is .3 inches bigger in diameter than 245/40 18 and its 799 rpms vs. 809. Seems okay. Using a 285/30 rear?
Thanks,

My Ride: 535d Sport, carbon black, media pack, visibility pack, grey leather, heated seats, sun protection glass, voice control, Eibach ProKit, 19" 166 style wheels, e-maps ECU remap to 325hp and 640NM, top speed limiter removed
Should be no problem at all.

No you cant. its not the diameter vs revolutions thats the probm... the offset of the #16 wheels stick out too much and with 255s your'll rub. Under turns and when the suspension is compressed.
use 245/35/19 f

I appreciate the comment. I'm curious since I have conflicting answers, how did you come across this info. on the fronts rubbing? Also, what about a 285/30 19 rear? Any issues there?

Well, I too have OEM 166s. I'm running 245/35/19s in the front and 275/30/19s in the rear. 285/30/19 will not be a problem at all for the rear.
Interestingly, I think you are the first to ask whether 255/35/19 will fit the front. Usually, the question is will 255/40/19s fit? These are the tire size from the M5. But nevertheless, I agree with EBMCS03 that you will risk having rubbing issues if you fitted the 166s with 255/35/19s.

I can attest that 285/30/19 will not rub on the rear. I had them in My old Harge wheels and no probs only after I added a 5mm spacer that I started rubbing so I had to do a lip roll. IMHO the car looks more balanced (looks) with a 285 in the rear . take a good look of your car and the rear tires seem (well actually they are) too small compared to the fronts ad the E60s have a large body in the rear.
