Sup all,

I changed my rotors and brake pads about 1 1/2 month to 2 months and this one this really irks me.

The rotors are rusting, in between the wheel and the disc brake.

Is it possible to use high temp 1200 degree BBQ (exhaust paint) to paint this (spray)?

Is it safe to spray it? Also, if i want to spray it, how can I prep it? do I just put tape around all the points I dont want sprayed?

Someone give some tips, please! =) I want to do this tomorrow if weather permits.

Here are pics of the Rust,

I think it's safe to paint that part -- just don't get any paint on the polished surface (or any other surface, for that matter.)

You're going to want to try to remove as much rust as possible with something like steel wool, etc.

Ouch that looks hideous-why does it rust like that? Did you replace something with non-oem partor something or is it just a function of the wet weather? It has poured here for the past 2 weeks and no such rust on mine-is this what is to come with further moisture?

That part usually rusts when harsh wheel cleaners are used (like the ones in automatic car washes, etc.)

Under normal conditions, I don't think this part doesn't usually rust like that.

I'd use sandpaper, followed by brake cleaner, to prep the surface. May take multiple cycles before the surface is clean. Then I'd use a brush on brake caliper paint (Pep Boys), using a sponge brush so you don't have brush marks.

I'm planning on pre-emptively doing mine. Just haven't gotten around to it.
