Call me crazy, but my 550i does appear more responsive...

and it has a slightly different sound upon acceleration. I can't say it has more power as I don't believe it possible to feel any gains much less than 20 hp, but it does seem to respond quicker when upshifting under hard throttle. Best part is the price is right. I didn't find any leaves or other trash in the airbox as others have alluded to.
I would recommend anyone with the charcoal filter to remove it.

Thanks to our pioneer Lomag who has DIY section on removing this filter.
Please put this and original fiter back when bring car in complaing rough cold start or you'd get blamed for K&N filter and charcoal filter removal.
I notice that with CCF (charcoal filter), low-end torque is strong, but does not pull fast. Removing CCF will reduce low-end torque, but boyz, the car keeps pulling fast and rev up comfortably. Howvever, I notice that I have a little rough start in the morning (for a couple of seconds) if w/o CCF, and the rev does not jump to 2K rpm for to make a loud rumble. With CCF, when I start the engine the rev jump to 2K rpm and drop down making a very nice rumble sound.
