I'm having the EBC Red Stuff ceramic pads fitted to my car on Monday, to improve braking perfomance and also to reduce that evil brake dust

Not very nice for the shiney 172's

I know these are available over the Pond as well as over here in the U.K., and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with them.

I have them, I used to have 172's as well and noticed less brake dust - don't expect miracles with regards to performance, maybe a touch better fade handling.

Red Stuff is the next grade up from Green. and you can only get the Red Stuff for a 535d M-Sport. ( There is yellow, but that is mainly designed for the track).

Being a company based close to where I live, being made in the UK, and the fact I received sponsorship from them when I raced Motocross a few years back, I know how good their brakes are. Plus they have had very favourable reveiws in the press.

i put the red stuff on the rear brakes. i haven't noticed a HUGE difference, but i have NO complaints at all. no squealing, affordable, and less brake dust than OEM (there's still some though).

had the greenstuff fitted on my 2002 celica 140bhp vvti (ex-car) and i got to say it does improve the brake performance alot!
But having said that, i have tried pingu's 525i with greenstuff fitted all around when i was in HK last Dec, i didnt noticed the brake improvement as much as i get in the Celica, perhaps the weight or maybe my celica has much lower bhp than 525, as EBC suggests greenstuff is for the car with below 200bhp and most of our bimmers get more than that (Some maybe double that ).

But well.....i just bought the whole set from EBC direct and going to fit it to see how it goes on
btw i have the "15% off + free shipping" discount code, for those who live in the UK and want one, just drop me a PM or post in here

Had the brake pads installed Monday. Seem pretty good from the start. A bit of brake squeal when baking lightly at slow speeds, but havn't done a lot of miles yet.

This apparently is normal for the first 200 miles or so until the pads bed in. Instructions on the box is to use lightly for the first few hundred miles. If there is still squeal after 1000 miles it can be classed as a valid warranty claim.

Overall so far very pleased, not too much dust, even though it is to be expected in the bedding in period. Won't know how much for sure until wheels are cleaned, as there was some dust on them already from OEM pads.
