Default Brake Motive Pads

A couple weeks back, I ordered a new set of rotors and pads from BrakeMotive - their ebay store. 2009 528i, with the X-drive package, and was quite pleased with the way they looked. I know it doesn't really matter how they look - but moreso, their performance - regardless, I enjoyed them. Ended up taking a 3300mile cross country road trip (moved from Oregon to FL), and over the course of the trip - especially towards the end, I noticed a rattling coming from the tail end.

Paranoid, (and with only a hundred or so miles to go), I lifted the car up on the service jack and poked around trying to find what was going on with the rear of the car. Everything was solid that I had worked on - brake carrier, rotor, and caliper. However, one thing that I *did* notice was loose, was the inside brake pad - on both sides of the vehicle (again, just the rear). Is there a clip that's s'posed to be in there? Some spring-loaded something? When I took the old pads off - there wasn't anything. I didn't have any left over parts either... So I'm kinda confused.

I called BrakeMotive's customer service department, and they're sending out a new set of pads - because that'd be my only guess as to what's going wrong with it. If I'm not mistaken, they had the press-weld clips on the pads, and I'm guessing those must have just snapped off, and that's why the inner pad is rattling around.

Again, any thoughts or input would be great. Thanks!

By the picture you have supplied it looks like you have made a very simple mistake

I can see the two metal retaining prongs sticking to the outside of the car
These pads are your inner
there are no prongs on your outer pad

It simply looks as if you have put your outside pads on the inside
switch them around and everything should be okay

Holy crap - you're right! #rookie-mistake

This is why I love forums, rather than paying stupid amounts for service, at any shop.
