I'm getting rid of anythinng chrome on the car. I'm looking to replace the Donz wheel cap with a BMW ones. I took it off and measured it. Do you measure the inner diameter or the outer diameter. The inside from tab to tab is approx. 2.75" and the Outer diameter (face) is 3" Which one do I get?

I asked the same question to a supplier who had 45, 50 & 55 mm Alpina caps and mine measured 65 mm. He acknowledged that my outside measurement existed, but he didn't have stock and would produce for me on special order. Assuming he's bona fide, my outside measurement was ok, and the way to go.

The latest genuine BMW centre cap is 69mm overall diameter,it is unlikely that it will fit looking at your measurements.
