Here you go....

Retrofit SMG

I am after the same project but on a 6 series. It looks quite tricky for my car as it is a 2004 and it seems like the steptronic has changed.

Otherwise it looks like a rather straightforward install. Motivemods sells the harness from the US and you need to get yourself a proper M5 steering wheel.

Good luck. Let me know if you find any more info.

Regards

What about non SMG . Do the M5 or mtrch steering wheels fit without modification to the 05, 545 with MT. I hate the look of that triangular wheel.
What are the options there to get read off it. And the cost?
Thanks

Hi there...Yes you can get the M tech steering wheel to fit...The main problem for changing these steering wheels to my knowledge was to the pre 2005 cars as the slip ring and the steering wheel have to be modified as i had to do with mine..You will have to buy steering wheel with airbag and maybe a slip-ring, you shouldnt have to many problems fitting it...(expensive though ebay should get the whole lot for about £350-400 what ever that is in $'s.....And yes you need to get rid of that triangular shaped wheel its very annoying
