For me it is a safety issue. The red reflectors do a better job at night than the white for marking the rear with the lights off or on. plushter77, does anything show up as red on the rear when the lights are on? How about when you brake?

I dont want to be mean but those tail lights look ugly.

OEM tail light with the red look much better. Here is a pic.

I'm not worried about the clear tails, I'm more worried about the blue turn signal bulbs you seem to have.

But seriously, thanks for posting: this is the first actual US customer I've personally seen with the OEM rear clears (shown here):

The split line between the red and white OEM lights is designed to integrate the crease line running down the length of the car with the trunk lines. I think this is one of the more elegant parts of the exterior design. You completely lose this with the clear lights.

The bulbs have a blueish color when they are off. But when lit they will turn into the color needed. So some will color red for the brakelights others will color amber for the signalling.

Aside from the ricey look, I agree with wolverine that the subtle divide between red and white is an integral part of the design. That line actually circles the car completely.

I won't even get into the legality issues -- it would probably be legal if the euro reflectors weren't painted white.

Don't you people have state required safety inspections (or observant police officers) where you live? Where I live, they'd give me tickets until I made it legal. Once I made it legal, they'd probably give me tickets for ugliness!
