I'd say try the general UHP's they will be the closest all season 19" tire I think, plus if you have to replace flats they are probably the least expensive tire. Maybe you should talk to your dealer about purchasing the bmw wheel and tire warranty.

I've been driving the RE960 AS tires you mentioned for a few thousand miles now and I think you'll be happy with them. They should also last a bit longer than the Conti's. As for me, they're not grippy enough so I'll be going back to Continental.

My Conti SportContact2's were awesome though. When I finally replaced them it turned out that I had a screw in one of my tires for long enough to wear the screw head off! In my opinion, that's one sturdy tire! I only replaced them with the all season to see how much I'd have to sacrifice in handling to have a tire that lasted longer than 20K miles.

Do you remember that day you were sitting across from the finance guy with his nasty calculator that kept driving up the cost of the car?.......well you said no, one too many times.

Yup. I do have a 3rd party isnrunace bu tonly covers $350 per incident and it takes forever to get the money.

Hi all,

I have a 2008 BMW 550i with sport package (19 in wheels) and stock conti 2 tires. I have been through 5 flats in about year due to all the flats in North Jersey. But, I think something is wrong with these tires and they are way too sensitive. The car is starting to cost me more than it's worth.

Does anyone have any suggestions on good tires that aren't so prone to flats and are maybe more comfortable and preferrably All Season tires. I really don't care about "speed" performance anymore. I just want good, reliable tires.

I was thinking of getting these...Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position

Any thoughts?
It says in the sales literature "Warning larger wheels with low profile tires are more susceptible to damage blah blah blah...?

I run 18' forged wheels with Michelin Pilots and no flats yet. If you don't care about the looks you might want to consider swapping to an OEM 18 inch wheel. Dropping an inch in wheel diameter will give you another 1/2 inch of tire sidewall to absorb impact.

19?s have really small sidewalls?
