It's finally starting to warm up in Winnipeg and I decided to take advantage of the great weather and install my BMS Powerbox.
Install was very straight forward and it was essentially plug in play once you pull the correct pins out and replace them in the wiring harness. We took our time and had the car back together in under and hour. If I did it again would probably only take 30 minutes. While I was in there I decided to remove my charcoal filter as well. Checked out my air filter and it looks like new still, it gets pretty dusty in the summer so I think I'm going to stick with OEM rather then K&N. Need to order a microfilter soon, mine looked kind of nasty.
Once everything was plugged in I unlocked the car and fired it up. No warning or anything, if anything my car is idling a little smoother now.
Took her out for a rip and I was amazed at the difference, this has totally changed the feel of the car. I had a SB before and the throttle remapping seems much smoother then the manic SB, DS mode is very aggressive.
It's not just the throttle remapping that I feel, between 60-120 km\h the car pulls way harder then before. I can also make my traction control light turn on which I couldn't do before
I have to say that this is the best $300 I have ever spent on a car. Honestly if this thing cost me $1000 I would still be tickled pink. I

Tomorrow she goes in for the Aux input retrofit and my order with Trinity for side skirts will be made in a couple weeks. Going to be a great summer thanks to 5Series.net and the great vendors on the forum

Really...Much different than your SB??? I would consider selling my SB and picking up one of these. Where did you get it? I too want to fall in love all over again!

Yeah BMS powerbox are 5x better than SBs, however I just don't know why many of our members dont have it, I was planning to be the first one to have it in a non-turbo saloon, but I guess you beat me to it! At least I'll still be the first 530i!!!

Just curious, I only see directions for 528i's. Is this the same for 525i's? Have you tried the Map 3 setting yet?

I know why many members don't have it cause it looks difficult to install. Also, everytime you have to go to the dealer it looks like a pain to reinstall. I am really on the fence with this one!
Just curious, I only see directions for 528i's. Is this the same for 525i's? Have you tried the Map 3 setting yet?

As far as removing it before going to dealers, I wouldn't. Just disable it and the unit is completely bypassed. Not like the dealer is going to be opening up your ECU when you take the car in for service. If anything this is more stealth then the SB.

It wasn't difficult to install at all, instructions are great. The 525 install was the same as the 528 install.
As far as removing it before going to dealers, I wouldn't. Just disable it and the unit is completely bypassed. Not like the dealer is going to be opening up your ECU when you take the car in for service. If anything this is more stealth then the SB.
