Well, anyone consider taking their car to a shop and having thicker leather, M stitching on their steering wheel? Shifter boot to match. i would imagine this is relitively inexpensive and would look GREAT!

I looked into it. We dont have any cliffs in florida. I am stuck with it.

First I have to get the service department to return my phone call. then when the car finally gets fixed I want to do a few small things to renew my interest in the car that I love but has been driving me crazy the past month or two. I will have had my car for a year on December 5th

I considered purchasing a 2007 M5 Blue & Red stitch BMW OEM Steering wheel, but BMW parts hotline advised it would not
work on my 2004 530i without modifactions and My BMW service dept. at my local BMW dealer would not do it, and The BMW Sport steering wheel is thick, with thumb pads, and looks and feels to me like the M5 steering
wheel but it does not have the blue and red stitching but black and my BMW dealer would install the m sport steering wheel and round air bag costing me 1,500.00. I did purchase it and had my BMW do the install which was 200.00, 525.00 from Garry at BMW of Newport. For the M sport steering wheel, and 650.00 + Tax for the round air bag, and it looks and works great on my 2004 5 Series.

I hope this helps, and good luck with your M5 red & blue stitching and thicker steering wheel project.

I've been quoted 250 or smth close to that for a suede re-upholstering of the steering wheel. IMHO well-worth it. Guessing that the stitching can be customized.

There is a vendor on Ebay.de that will cover your steering wheel with new and thicker leather and will do the blue and red stitching. It costs about 130? for the normal wheel and 180? for the sports steering wheel. after receiving the steering wheel you have to send your old steering wheel.
