Would black high temperature spray paint hold up on the chrome tips?

no, the chrome has to be sanded off. nothing sticks to chrome, from what i hear.
actually no thats not true at all
if you wipe down the exhaust with alcohol and then heat it up and then spray it with high temp paint, it works just fine.
I had this done before on an exhaust and I kept the car for 5 years and never had it flake off or anything.

you can buy high temp matte black engine spray paint that works very well, the process takes an hour or so because you need to clean and heat up the exhaust and spray on two coats and let it dry in between the coats
the results exactly the same in regards to looks as powdercoating and will last a long time
its a really good route to go

from what i've been told by people that do it for a living, the chrome has to be ruffed up and sanded or sandblasted....but hey, if you can get away with it - spray paint away!
well they are wrong, ive seen it first hand on porsches and a new r35 gtr. Both of these cars had it done and neither had their chrome tips sanded or sandblasted
all they had to do was clean it with rubbing alcohol and heat it up enough to where the high temp paint will adhere properly.
its a simple procedure but just time consuming.
