So I think my battery is starting to go out. I left the radio on a few weeks ago while working on car and it drained it alot, had to jump it, and now this weekend it needed to be jumped again.

Whats the best place to buy it locally and which battery should I get? How much do you think it will cost, and is it hard to replace the battery? Never done it on these types of cars.

Have not had to replace mine yet, but have seen some other posts on this.

One recommended is the Duralast Gold 95R from Autozone for about $175.

Batteries Plus lists the SLI95RH9 Battery 2004 V8 4.4L 850CCA 545I BMW Car.

"95R" seems to be the common code for these.

When I needed my battery replaced here in San Antonio (hi!) I went to autozone and bought the Duralast one for our cars. It cost about 169 if I remember correctly.

the battery's exterior looked exactly the same (minus the color), and it said MADE IN GERMANY. It is probably a debranded OEM unit.

Changing the battery couldn't be any easier, either: I used this DIY here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/debbiea...7612417073268/

Best of luck, and keep us posted!

K, so I went to go get a coffee during work and my car took a few seconds to start up and had that horrible struggling to start sound, idrive looked all messed up. Decided to go to Autozone near by and they did a test and showed a very low charge. The car wouldn't start from that point on. Decided to go with the 95R and put in place. Starts with no problems now, big relief. The bad news, it cost me $200 with tax.

To my fellow San Antonian's, bought a replacement tire for my stock 17's Continental ContiTouring and only paid $150 from Gil's on San Pedro, I couldnt even get it online cheaper. I dont think you will find better prices on tires in SA anywhere!

Yeah I could have gotten it cheaper but my car died at auto zone.

You might want to take it to the dealer now though and have them reset the car to accept the new battery. Mine also died a few months ago, I called BMW roadside assistance and they sent a tech from my local shop out - he replaced the battery for free and told me to stop by the dealer in the next few days so they could reset something. That didn't cost me a cent either.

I'd check it out though - I wouldn't want to risk it.
