Does anybody know how to get the best launch outta a non-M car like my BMW 535i??? I know couple methods.....like 1 foot of roll out like on a drag strip, or brake and rev to 1500 rpms.....but anybody know a more effective and (cool) way??? secret launch control techniques???

for me it is: take DTC/DSC off. Put it in DS and floor it. you could "stage" a bit, but i think bringing the RPMS up while braking will just cause the turbos to spool, throw too much torque and spin the tired through first gear causing a preemptive shift into second.

Plus it kills auto tranny's.... +1 for DS because it will shift before the car bogs down, which is what will happen in Manual Mode if you don't shift. It will shift in Manual Mode, but a little delayed.

If you use break till the stall-speed point (wich is arount 1500-1700rpm for bmw automatic) it wont break anything, but gives you a lot better off the line speed (around 1sec better quarter mile time, if you have traction:-P). If you only use it when you really want a good start it wont break, but dont keep the rpm above that, because it heats up the torque converter, and only hold it with break minimal time to avoid transmission overheating. The 535iA should be really difficult to get off the line with crippled diff, even without holding the car:-P

really, traction is key. when those turbos spool, 1st gear is useless with bad traction.

Jep, the same thing with my V8, but a good diff and tires make it a little better, and engine without turbos doesnt kick in so violently:-) Still if Europe had 535i, then i would consider it, because of easy (and relatively cheap) engine chipping and a lot more power than v8 is achieved.
