what do you guys think of a battery charger if your car spend most of the week now on the garage.

would it hurt the battery?

I have a trickle charger from BMW and it works great! It shouldn't hurt your battery.

I currently don't use it that much, But when i do it stays plugged until i get back from my trip. When you say socket do you mean the cigarette lighter socket ( Those chargers do not work on E60's ) you need the one that plugs in to the electrical outlet.

I was checking on BMWusa and they have one the one that I was asking is the one that goes to the wall outlet and insert the adapter into your BMW?s electronic socket

It's the same as mine but instead of having the socket plug I have two clips that connect to the battery terminal under the hood.

griotsgarage.com has a battery manager that looks very similar to the bmw one. It''s on sale for $39.99 (battery manager II). I've had the original battery manager on a seldom used convertible for quite a while with no problems. Griot's garage tends to be expensive, but the stuff is very good and has a lifetime warranty as I recall.
